Introducing Monika and Luke

25.10.10

Last week was the Galeries summer campaign shoot which featured Luke and Monika, amongst a few others misfits we cast for the shoot. We found these two kids from our facebook casting and lucky for us they had the right mug to fit the clothes.

We had a chance to grab them for a few questions while they were still getting ready, and they shared their style, favourite movies, books, foods, and places to hangout in Sydney as well as a few other interesting details…Favourite Spice Girl? Um. Want to learn how to complete a personality test? We did.

Here is what Monika had to say...

What do you do?

I am a Full time uni student studying psychology and a casual retail assistant

What have you learnt so far in psychology?

I’ve learnt how to do a personality test using a few specific questions about a box, flower, window, ladder and a horse. I’ve also learnt reverse psychology.

Very Handy…

What is your favourite thing about the Galeries?

So many great stores under the one roof!

What store best represents your style?

A mix of Nu+Naan and Incu

What will your signature look for Summer be?

I am loving denim on denim, Americana. I also like lace on top, denim shorts, socks and sandals.

What is your favourite thing about what you are wearing today for the shoot?

The shoes from Kagui

What is the best thing about Sydney summer?

The beautiful beaches! I’ve been to Europe in summer and nothing compares to Bondi beach!

What would a typical day at Bondi involve for you?

Getting there nice and early before the crowds, tanning and swimming, Oporto’s burgers, nothing is better than having a Bondi burger at Bondi.

What is the one food you can never resist?

Thai chicken chilli basil stir-fry especially if it is from Doi Thai in Newtown

What is your favourite country in the world that you’ve traveled to?

The Croatian coast for relaxation, the beaches are beautiful and my aunty has a house there, we spend all day at the beach then go to her restaurant for dinner. The food is amazing, they have the best food I have ever tasted. I also love London for shopping particularly Oxford St.

What is your favourite movie of all time?

Look Who's Talking- I don't know why but I have watched it at least 20 times and it always makes me smile

What is the piece of clothing or jewelry that you could never part with?

My 'Monika' necklace. I’m constantly wearing it, I like the fact that is individual especially because my name is spelt with a K.

What is your favourite quote?

This too shall pass! The first time I saw it was on a tattoo on a girls back ever since then it has inspired me.

And Luke…

What do you do?

I am a relief teacher at Kindergarten and work at Ability House in Bondi doing life coaching and mentoring with disadvantaged children.

Wow what is that like?

Rewarding

Life skills like social etiquette, I take them to coffee with my friends and shopping etc.

All the shopping you need at the one place.

What store best represents your style?

Incu or Nu+ Naan

What is your favourite thing about what you are wearing for the shoot?

The watch and the pants I like the rolled up look, its good for summer drinks or you can dress it up for a night out with the la-dies

How would you describe your style?

A fusion. Effortlessly cool. A mix of designer and vintage. Bohemiam and chic with a bit of 90’s B boy rocker.

What has been your best vintage find to date?

A leather studded female jacket, I cut it off at the sleeves and made it into a vest and my combat boots oh and some Ken Done shorts I found in Cream in Surry Hills.

What are you currently listening too?

I am so random when it comes to music. Right now I am listening to Florence and the Machine and SIA and I downloaded some old Deni Hines and Kate Bush songs the other day. Bardot and the Spice Girls are also topping my track list.

Posh Spice she’s really trashy and super rich she’s gone from rags to riches.

Gin and tonic and vodka lemon, lime and soda. Cider and ice is the drink of the season.

What is your favourite Sydney neighborhood and why?

I love the back streets of Surry Hills. The culture, the vibe, the interesting people, coffee at Kawa and Bourke St. Bakery and shopping at Minty Meets Munt, Cream and Zoo Emporium.

If you could have coffee with one person dead or alive who would it be and what would you talk to them about?

I would definitely choose Michael Hutchence, I would steer towards the topics of love, fashion, sex, art and culture.

Check out some more of the behind the scenes pics in our Gallery and stay tuned to meet more of our Galeries girls and guys.
