Safety remains our top priority and we’ve been working hard, alongside our retailers, to ensure our centre has a thorough COVID Safe Plan in place utilising new technologies.

With our ongoing focus on health and safety, we have a range of protective measures in place to encourage everyone to follow distancing guidelines and health and hygiene measures in our centre, including physical and digital signage, loudspeaker announcements and line markings throughout our centre

In line with updated government direction, it’s only mandatory to wear a mask when visiting hairdressers or beauticians and front-of-house hospitality staff are required to wear masks whilst working in our centre.   

For all other customers, masks are recommended but are no longer compulsory.

The safety and well-being of our customers, retailers, team and community continue to be our top priority. We’re taking extra precautions to ensure our centre is clean and hygienic every time you visit, including more frequent cleaning, encouraging healthy physical distancing and good hygiene.

Your safety is our priority – you must now wear a face mask or covering

In line with Government direction, you must now wear a mask or face mask during your visit to our centre.

Help our community stop the spread of COVID-19 by keeping a healthy distance from each other.

And remember, if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, please do not enter the centre

*Face masks are now compulsory for everyone over the age of 12 when you’re out in public. Children under 12 are exempt but are encouraged to wear face masks where practical.

*This excludes people who cannot wear a mask for a medical reason. You may be asked to provide documentation to support this to our team, or to bring that documentation along with you next time you visit us.

IMPORTANT CUSTOMER NOTICE - TRADING UPDATE 29/12/2020
Books Kinokuniya

Our team has been notified a person who visited Books Kinokuniya at The Galeries on Sunday 20 December between 3pm and 3:45pm has returned a positive test for COVID-19.

The team at Books Kinokuniya are following advice from NSW Health including contact tracing and is increasing their cleaning throughout the store. We’ve also arranged a deep clean of our centre particularly near the store’s entrance, as a precaution.

Our priority continues to be the health, safety and wellbeing of our customers, retailers, team members and the broader community, and to ensure everyone can visit our centre safely.

We have also increased our cleaning roster since learning of the case, with additional focus on specific areas including; balustrades, retailer door handles, vertical transport, toilets, sinks, change tables and parents’ rooms, customer entry and touch points, information screens, as well as communal furniture throughout the centre. This will continue for the foreseeable future.

At this stage, the advice from authorities is that this has been identified as a casual contact case, therefore anyone who visited the venue on the date and times provided should monitor for symptoms until January 3rd 2021. If you show or have any COVID like symptoms, however mild, you should get tested immediately and self-isolate until you receive a negative result.

IMPORTANT CUSTOMER NOTICE - TRADING UPDATE 22/12/2020
Arthouse Hotel

Our team has been notified a person who visited Arthouse Hotel at The Galeries on Thursday 17 December between 11:15am and 12:15pm has returned a positive test for COVID-19.

The team at Arthouse Hotel is following advice from NSW Health including contact tracing and is undertaking a deep clean and sanitisation of the restaurant. We’ve also arranged a deep clean of our centre overnight, as a precaution.

Our priority continues to be the health, safety and wellbeing of our customers, retailers, team members and broader community, and to ensure everyone can visit our centre safely.

Update 21 December 2020

Following government direction, from 11:59 pm Sunday 20th December, some restrictions have been introduced in response to the new community outbreak. These restrictions are as follows:

  • Capacity requirements of 1 person per 4 square metres in indoor areas
  • A maximum of 300 people, subject to 1 person per 4 square metre rule applies for each separate area of hospitality venues.
  • It is highly recommended to wear a face mask in indoor settings, such as shops and hospitality venues.
  • All residents of the Northern Beaches LGA are required to stay home as per the Public Health Order.

The health and safety of our customers, retailers, team and community is always our highest priority.

Our safety measures remain in place, to ensure our The Strand Arcade is safe for so customer can safely access the products and services they need. COVID-19 precautionary measures remain in place and include:

  • Physical signage reminding customers to keep a safe distance apart
  • Floor decals provided to retailers to assist with communicating physical distancing measures and physical distancing reference points in key areas
  • Increased sanitisation and cleaning of all customer touch points and high traffic areas
  • Hand sanitiser at all entrances
  • Where available, use our traffic counters and/or digital heat mapping to identify busy zones to help us actively manage these areas before reaching customer density thresholds.
  • Automated alerts on occupancy allowing our team to actively monitor how many customers are in the centre at any time
  • Automated, regular public announcements centre-wide, communicating distancing expectations
  • Security offices, in high visibility vests, are monitoring our centres, together with supporting local police enforcing social distancing requirements are appropriate

Please ensure that when you visit, you follow good hygiene and social distancing practices to help keep our community safe, this includes:

  • Plan your shopping trip and use the closest entry to the store you are visiting
  • Keep a healthy distance from other customers and team members
  • Ensure you wear a mask or face covering where you cannot physically socially distance
  • Maintain good hygiene including washing your hands or using the hand sanitiser provided, including after touching common surfaces and after coughing or sneezing
  • If you happen to cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, then dispose of it, or if you do not have a tissue, cover your mouth and nose with your upper sleeve

And remember, if you are unwell, please stay home.

Social distancing measures are in place across our centre to protect our community from the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Practicing good hygiene and keeping a healthy physical distance between individuals is our most powerful weapon in fighting this virus, we ask that all visitors adhere to these measures.

We continue to take extra precautions within our centre to ensure it is a clean and safe place for you including:

  • Physical and digital signage reminding customers to keep a safe distance apart

Update 24 July 2020
Restaurants and cafes

In line with advice from the State Government, we’re excited to see our restaurants and cafes reopen. From 12:01am Friday, 24 July 2020 the following rules will be in force as NSW enters a state of ‘COVID normal’ we expect everyone to adhere to the government-led requirements and recommendations.

Compliance measures introduced to pubs will be extended to restaurants, bars, cafés and clubs. This includes:
1. Limiting group bookings to a maximum of 10 people
2. Mandatory COVID-Safe plans and registration as a COVID-Safe business
3. A digital record must be created within 24 hours.

Update 1 July 2020

Guided by the latest NSW government health advice, the number of people allowed inside indoor venues will be determined by the 'one person per 4 square metre' rule, with no upper limit.

This update applies to our Food Gallery. Your safety is our priority and a number of measures are in place, including:

  • A minimum of four square metres (4sqm) per person.
  • All dine-in customers must be seated at a table
  • Maintaining 1.5m physical distancing in waiting and seating areas.
  • Additional cleaning and sanitising of Food Gallery furniture.
  • Completion of COVID-19 Safety Plan by Food Gallery retailers

Update 13 June 2020
Our Food Gallery has reopened

Guided by the latest NSW government health advice, food courts will now be able to accommodate up to 50 people seated within our Food Gallery at any one time .

Your safety is our priority and a number of measures are in place including:

  • A minimum of four square metres (4sqm) per person.
  • All dine-in customers must be seated at a table
  • Maintaining 1.5m physical distancing in waiting and seating areas.
  • Additional cleaning and sanitising of Food Gallery furniture is occurring.
  • Completion of COVID-19 Safety Plan by Food Gallery retailers

Update 1 June 2020

It’s been pleasing to see a further easing of some restrictions across NSW in recent weeks which has helped restore confidence in many businesses to reopen and we’re excited to see our customers returning too. As always, our priority is to ensure everyone who visits The Galeries can safely access the products and services they need.

You’ll notice COVID-19 precautionary measures remain in place across The Galeries and we expect everyone to adhere to the government-led recommendations and maintain a healthy distance from others.

Our current trading hours are 11am - 5pm every day. With these changes in place, please check our store listing or with individual stores for current opening hours.

Reopening restaurants and cafes

In line with advice from the State Government, we’re excited to see a number of our restaurants and cafes reopen, with dine-in options for up to 50 people at one time. Stores will display the maximum number of customers who can be inside at any one time and will adhere to the strict distancing measures.

In line with advice from the State Government, beauty services will have also reopened. Stores will display the maximum number of patrons at their entry or shop window for your convenience. Again, please remember all physical distancing requirements must be maintained.

The safety and wellbeing of our customers, retailers, team and community continues to be our top priority. While we continue to serve you, we’re taking extra precautions to ensure our centre is clean and hygienic including more frequent cleaning and encouraging healthy physical distancing and good hygiene.

We’re starting to see some positive signs and changes to government restrictions, and would like to assure you that we are staying up-to-date with the latest government advice, and are working hard to adapt to better serve our customers, retailers, team and community.

Following current government direction, some of our stores are re-opening, while others continue to be closed. While our food gallery is closed for dine-in and we’ve removed all seating, many of our dining operators and cafés remain open for take away and delivery.

We are committed to the safety of our community and will not tolerate unsafe behaviour.
