This April, Sydney is becoming the concert capital. From Simple Plan to SZA and Nick Cave, the city is set to become abuzz with performances from some of the world’s biggest musicians. And while the biggest factor you had to consider when it came to concert-going a few years ago might’ve been where you’d park or what merch you’d be buying, nowadays, the concert outfit has shot to the top of the priorities list.

Take Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, for instance. During her four Sydney concerts, the city sparkled with diamante tops, bedazzled boots, cowboy hats and friendship bracelets as concert-goers dived deep into the drama and fun of it all. But for every fabulous ensemble, there is (more often than not) a whole lot of stuff that doesn’t see the light of day post-concert. In fact, a lot of that stuff ends up in landfill, contributing to our planet’s already-crippling textile waste problems.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t dress up and go all out for your next concert, it just means you should buy a piece you can see yourself wearing well after the show’s over. Here, we pick five spectacular items that’ll turn heads at concerts, parties, and on the street.

This fringed maxi is made to shimmy in. The frayed tassel finish moves when you do, giving the whole piece a festive feeling made for concert-going. The slightly sheer black fabric also means it’s as perfect for a dancefloor as it is for a dinner date.

When two iconic brands team up, it’s no surprise they deliver an ultra-cool take on a wardrobe staple. These knee-grazing shorts from the latest Carhartt WIP x Sacai collaboration are made for the mosh pit.

You spend a lot of time on your feet at a concert, so you best be in comfortable shoes. These dad-style sneakers from New Balance are as cool as they are comfy, and will have you walking (or dancing) on air all night.

Want to wear a dress but still want to be able to dance? This hot pink number from Jacquemus’ latest collaboration with Nike is just the ticket. An asymmetric neckline and mini length screams “ready to dance all night.”
