Looking for a simple way to embrace the new season? A mani will do the trick. Whether you’re partial to a classic, neutral nail or love to try new colours and patterns, here we take you through 5 of the best manicure trends set to dominate the upcoming spring/summer season. Not to mention, we’ll also include reference pics for you to show your manicurist at Cleopatra Body & Nails on the Lower Ground of The Galeries.
If you haven’t heard of Hailey Bieber’s glazed donut nails, then you probably haven’t been spending much time on BeautyTok. Making waves back in 2022, when Bieber debuted the look at the Met Gala, courtesy of her nail artist Zola Ganzorigt, the trend has dominated the manicure space for over a year and will continue to do so this spring/summer. The manicure is a light, neutral shade with a pearly chrome powder finish, giving it that “Krispy Kreme” look.
Just as jelly sandals are set to return as one of spring/summer’s most coveted shoes, 90s-inspired jelly nails are also making a comeback. It’s a sheer, ultra-glossy manicure that gives your nails a ‘lip-gloss’ effect or a ‘jelly effect,’ that artists will usually create by diluting a red-ish pink colour with clear polish.
Already a favourite of Sofia Richie Grainge and Dua Lipa, blueberry milk nails are another addition to the milky manicure phenomenon. The internet has already been through strawberry and chocolate milk phases, and now it’s simply on to the next. To achieve blueberry milk nails, light blue polish is paired with a pale white base or pearly top coat for a creamy look.
Does it come as any surprise that this year’s Barbie film is also set to inspire our manicures? During Margot Robbie’s epic press run, she worked with nail artist Betina Goldstein to create a pink-base manicure with a multi-coloured swirl, featuring yellow, purple and magenta.
They’re a classic for a reason, and this year the simple, clean nail trend is returning as one of the most requested styles. But if you do want to add your own spin, try asking for a chrome or coloured (or multi-coloured) tip.
